After escaping a coercive marriage with nothing but the clothes on her back, Bran found a lifeline through BGfm community radio. By providing essential digital tools and nurturing her passion for horticulture, the hub empowered Bran to transform from a survivor into a professional radio presenter

"My life has turned around."

Leaving a seven year marriage shadowed by coercive control, Bran was left with nothing but the clothes on her back. She was consumed by anxiety and uncertainty, finding herself suddenly sleeping on her mother's sofa.

Her turning point came from community support provided by BGfm community radio, a hub in the National Digital Inclusion Network. BGfm provided Bran with the digital lifeline she needed - a laptop and data connectivity - as part of holistic support. They nurtured Bran’s passion for horticulture by providing gardening tools and access to a community garden.

Empowered by these tools and this sanctuary, Bran enrolled in distance learning with the Royal Horticultural Society and secured a job as a radio presenter at BGfm. Bran now hosts a drivetime slot dedicated to gardening and sustainability. Her journey is a testament to the power of holistic support.
