Good Things Foundation and Reconome expand their partnership providing a long-term, sustainable supply of devices to people who need them most.

Good Things Foundation and Reconome, a leading circular IT solutions provider and certified B Corp, have committed to deliver 85,000 devices to digitally excluded people across the UK by June 2029.

These devices will be delivered through Good Thing’s National Device Bank. Under the expanded partnership, Reconome will become its exclusive technology partner in providing a long-term, sustainable supply of laptops, tablets and mobile devices to people who need them most.

As more of daily life moves online, millions of people across the UK are being left behind. According to Good Things’ Digital Nation 2025 infographic, 7.9 million people in the UK lack basic digital skills, while 1.6 million adults do not have access to a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Without access to technology, people are increasingly excluded from essential services, education, employment opportunities and community support.

Building on what started as a successful pilot three years ago, this long-term partnership is designed to tackle digital exclusion sustainably, moving beyond one-off donations to a culture that maximises reuse of devices for social impact and reduces electronic waste. By combining Reconome’s technology and corporate relationships with Good Things’ national delivery network, this step change in the partnership between the two purpose-led organisations will ensure a reliable flow of devices helping close the digital divide.

Nick Rawkins, Co-founder & CEO of Reconome, says: “Being appointed as the exclusive technology partner for the National Device Bank is a powerful validation of our sustainable approach. So much of our lives, from accessing public services and healthcare to learning, banking and staying connected, happens online and everyone should have the tools they need to take part. Together, we’re proving that repurposed technology can change lives at scale; tackling digital exclusion while reducing waste and delivering real, lasting impact.”

Since April 2022, Good Things has expanded its network of National Digital Inclusion Hubs to 667 locations, distributed 28,992 devices and supported a further 33,112 household members who benefit when a device is shared within a family or community. The expanded partnership with Reconome will significantly accelerate this impact, helping more people get online, stay connected and participate fully in an increasingly digital world.

Helen Milner OBE, CEO of Good Things Foundation, says: “Thanks to Reconome and its customers, we are committed to providing devices to 85,000 digitally excluded people through our National Device Bank. This partnership ensures an ongoing supply of devices, directly enabling people to get online and improve their lives. It's fantastic to see organisations embracing sustainable IT asset disposal while making such a meaningful social impact.”

The partnership forms part of a wider long-term strategy by both organisations to support national efforts to tackle digital exclusion while delivering life-changing outcomes for individuals, families and communities across the UK. This work also supports the UK Government’s Digital Inclusion Action Plan - which Good Things has played a driving role in shaping - which in turn recognises access to digital tools as a critical foundation for participation in modern society.
