Join our team: Public Affairs and Advocacy Officer

Good Things Foundation is the UK’s leading digital inclusion charity. We exist to ensure that everyone can participate in, benefit from, and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Digital access isn't a luxury—it’s an essential utility. Our mission is to make digital inclusion a foundational pillar of how the UK functions, creating systems change at scale through robust evidence, grassroots partnership, and targeted political engagement.

We are looking for an ambitious, driven Policy and Public Affairs Officer to join our multi-disciplinary Evidence and Engagement Directorate. If you are passionate about influencing decision-makers, elevating community voices, and shaping policy that directly impacts millions of lives, we want to hear from you.

Role description

Sitting at the intersection of political insight, data-driven research, and community action, this role is critical to executing our advocacy and public affairs strategy. You will work closely with our senior leadership to engage parliamentarians, government bodies, strategic regional authorities, and civil society partners to ensure digital inclusion is prioritised across national and devolved policy agendas.

Your core focus will involve drafting sharp, evidence-based policy responses, consultation submissions, and briefings tailored for Westminster and sector regulators. Alongside direct written advocacy, you will help represent Good Things Foundation at external forums, build lasting relationships with key policy influencers, and track our ongoing legislative and policy impact.

Crucially, you will bridge the gap between national politics and community realities. You will coordinate with our 5,000+ strong National Digital Inclusion Network to ensure grassroots insights and lived experience directly inform national policy debates. Additionally, you will support high-impact advocacy events, manage our presence at political party conferences, and organise MP visits to local digital inclusion hubs, all while collaborating across our communications team to amplify our mission through opinion pieces and digital content.

We welcome applications from candidates whose professional and personal experience will bring new perspectives, understanding and capacity to the organisation; and who are ready to rise to the opportunities of this role.
