DSIT Responsible Device Donation Charter - Show and Tell

Good Things Foundation, VodafoneUK, and Deloitte UK are working together with the Government to lead the development of a charter for responsible device donation.

On Wednesday 26 March, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) launched their Digital Inclusion Action Plan which featured industry pledges to support digital inclusion efforts.

As part of the pledges it was announced that Good Things Foundation, VodafoneUK, and Deloitte UK are working together with the Government to lead the development of a charter for responsible device donation. This will establish common principles for businesses and organisations to commit to - increasing the number of devices donated to digitally excluded people, reducing electronic waste, and promoting circularity.

This event was an opportunity to find out more about DSIT's development of a charter for responsible device donation - revolutionising how UK businesses manage and dispose of their IT assets, like laptops and smart phones. This event was for organisations interested in device donation to close the UK's deepening digital divide and reduce e-waste.

You'll hear from senior leadership in DSIT alongside Good Things Foundation, Vodafone and Deloitte about the charter, its aims, and what is expected of organisations who wish to join the charter. Further you'll hear from the DPA and DSIT about the Government's pilot device donation, as outlined in the Digital Inclusion Action Plan. The charter will be launched alongside practical support to interested organisations.
