Working with Local authorities

Local authorities are on the front line in tackling digital exclusion, reaching deep into communities with their services.

With continuing budget pressure for local authorities, it’s currently more vital than ever that residents are supported to maximise their digital skills and access, allowing councils to reimagine their service delivery using innovative technology models.

Good Things Foundation has helped local authorities to drive digital inclusion as part of their service transformation programmes. As well as supporting channel shift, digital inclusion can drive employment, financial inclusion, and health and wellbeing.

We can help local authorities:

  • Build digital inclusion into service transformation and integration.
  • Design specific digital programmes helping services achieve greater impact.
  • Mobilise people and organisations in communities to drive digital inclusion 'in a place'.

Spotlight on Leeds

In May 2016, Good Things Foundation worked with Leeds City Council to design and run an event called 100% Digital Leeds to mobilise a movement for digital inclusion across the city. Opened by Tom Riordan, Chief Executive of Leeds City Council, the event was attended by public, private and third sector organisations and focused on creating a roadmap for digital inclusion in Leeds and a digital map of support in different parts of the city. Good Things Foundation are now providing support to the Council to help the movement continue to grow.
