Between November 2017 and June 2018, Good Things Foundation and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation ran a challenge prize for the community sector.
The concept of a challenge prize is simple. To solve a problem, a funder sets a challenge and asks people to respond and the best response gets a prize.
Unlike a conventional challenge prize, we did not expect our prize to find a solution. We challenged the community sector to think about grassroots solutions to poverty by asking them "How would you use £2,000 to help people in your community spend less money?".
