Home Access Project

Evidence from UK online centres shows that to develop good digital skills, online access at home is vital. Despite the great work that UK online centres do providing internet access to those on the wrong side of the digital divide, the Home Access Project is all about helping people to take the next step on their digital journey – allowing them to take advantage of all the benefits of online access within their own homes.

Started in 2013 the project has developed a Home Access diagnostic tool – the Set-up Essentials tool housed on Learn My Way. This cuts through the jargon to provide people with an easy way to find out what hardware and connection packages may be best for them when first setting up online.

A specialist network of Home Access centres has also been developed across the country, acting as impartial advisory points for new learners, and allowing them to try out a number of devices on site.
