Connecting Families
Good Things Foundation has already distributed more than devices and internet access to over 400 disadvantaged families. But there are many more families who need these devices and the support of local community organisations; we cannot yet meet this need through existing funding.
We have heard stories through working with communities of families who rely on their device parents who as could not leave the house because a disabled child was shielding, those who suddenly found themselves without free school meals who have been helped to claim food vouchers online, and of a severely disabled grandmother being able to read a bedtime story with her grandson over a video call.
How do we plan to work with more children and families?
This summer, through our network of community partners we plan to deliver at least 2,000 devices to disadvantaged families. Community partners who are part of the Online Centres Network will be invited to apply for devices and connectivity that they will then distribute to Individuals in their local communities. These community partners will also provide ongoing support; to enable people to use the devices for homeschooling, applying for benefits and to stay connected with loved ones.
