Carers Week 2016
08 Jun 2016
6 - 12 June is national Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK - and Good Things Foundation is proud to support the campaign.
We hear from lots of UK online centres just how much of a difference digital skills and the internet can make to carers and those they care for, which is one reason we established a Specialist Carers Network, to better support centres who help those who look after loved ones at home.
To inform our support for carers, last year, Good Things Foundation carried out a piece of research - The Health and Wellbeing of Unpaid Carers: Where can digital skills and community support add value?
This research helped us focus on the real issues around digital support for carers and later this week we’ll be launching Doing Digital Inclusion: Unpaid Carers Handbook. The handbook will break down the key barriers for carers and most importantly, provide tips and methods for helping them to find support with digital skills.
