DevicesDotNow is aiming to get thousands of internet connected devices out to people who are further excluded from technology during the coronavirus outbreak.
Florence Mable, who is 91, lives in Woodley in Stockport in her one bedroom flat. Mable is very independent but since the outbreak of coronavirus she hasn't been able to leave the house.
Until 5 weeks ago, Mable had never used the internet. Through Online Centre Starting Point, Mable was identified as someone who could benefit from support through the DevicesDotNow initiative.
"I do get a little bit down sometimes because of my illness. But just being able to talk to my family has helped a great deal." says Mable. She now uses the device to keep in touch with her daughter in Australia, who she hasn't seen for 25 years. "At night is when I get lonely. So when I've spoken to one of them, afterwards I think - oh how lovely it is to be able to talk to them like that."
DevicesDotNow need more help to deliver more devices and support to more people like Mable. Find out how you can get involved here.
