About us
Good Things Foundation is the UK’s leading digital and social inclusion charity. Our mission is a world where everyone can benefit from digital. Through our Online Centres Network of hyperlocal partners, we are supporting people and communities to overcome some of the most pressing social challenges they are facing through digital.
Since 2010 we’ve helped over 3.5 million people to improve their lives using digital, driving positive outcomes such as employment, reducing loneliness, supporting basic digital skills, and health and wellbeing.
Good Things Foundation is a social change organisation with a mission to ensure that everyone benefits from digital. We live the change we are seeking to achieve and encourage applications from diverse backgrounds. We operate a policy of providing equal opportunities in all aspects of work including recruitment, training, and promotion, whatever the colour, race, religion, belief, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age or disability of an employee, having regard to the individual’s aptitudes and abilities and requirements for the job. Good Things Foundation is opposed to all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. Our goal is also to be truly reflective of the makeup of society and we actively welcome difference.
About the role
We seek a resourceful and imaginative go-getter who is ambitious about the impact we can achieve with the right funding partners by our side.
We are the charity behind the National Databank, National Device Bank, and the National Digital Inclusion Network – the nation’s social infrastructure for digital inclusion.
We want:
- Everyone to have the internet access they need
- Everyone to have somewhere local to go for help to use the internet
- Everyone to feel able and safe in the online world.
Achieving our strategy relies on strategic funding partners; and a strong pipeline of device donations from corporates and public sector bodies to power the National Device Bank.
Led by the Head of Business Development and Partnerships, you will get Good Things Foundation in front of the right people, build and maintain strong relationships, and support implementation of our fundraising strategy – resulting in more investment, more device donations, and more impact in the lives of digitally excluded people.
The role is permanent, working within the Partnerships and Fundraising Team.
We would particularly like to hear from candidates whose professional and personal experience will bring new perspectives, understanding and capacity to the organisation.
Whatever your professional background – commercial, public, or voluntary sector – you bring integrity into all your work, and always deliver what you say you will. You relish the opportunity to generate leads, secure support, and build long-lasting relationships with partners for positive social impact.
See the job description for full details.
Essential experience
As an applicant it is essential that you are able to demonstrate that you possess the following experience, knowledge, skills, education, and qualifications:
- Experience in a business development and/or fundraising role – with evidence of winning partnerships that generate income – especially from corporates and major donors
- Evidence of success in relationship building and management of a portfolio of external/partner relationships
- Finding and using external sources of information to identify and pursue business development opportunities
- Collaborative working with diverse stakeholders and colleagues
- Motivated, entrepreneurial and outcome-oriented
- A strong team player – supportive and solutions-focused
- Empathetic – able to understand the objectives and perspectives of others
- Work well in a fast paced environment with stretching goals
- Ability to interpret a wide range of data and stories, and deploy this effectively in pitches and proposals
- Ability to use technologies, data and insights to monitor progress, problem solve, and improve
