Government toolkit features our free courses

A free online toolkit to build skills during the coronavirus outbreak and beyond has been launched by the Government, featuring our free Learn My Way and Make it Click resources.

The Skills Toolkit – launched by Education Secretary Gavin Williamson – aims to boost workplace skills, offering high quality, flexible courses in digital and numeracy. The toolkit will give people the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge that employers value, gain confidence and support the country’s economic recovery.

With 11.9 million people in the UK still without the essential digital skills they need for life and for work, we are delighted to be contributing to the toolkit, alongside organisations such as Lloyds Banking Group and Google.

Learn My Way provides a free, safe, and easy way for people to take their first and second steps to build the essential digital skills they need, including accessing health services and advice, keeping in touch with friends and family, and shopping and banking online.

Make It Click features free courses, tools, and templates that people can trust. It allows people to take further steps on their digital inclusion journey – to learn new apps, improve the skills they already have, and take a positive step forward in their work.

Courses on offer in the new Skills Toolkit range from basic to more advanced, from everyday maths and presentation skills to digital marketing and learning to code. All courses are online and flexible, allowing people to work through them at their own pace.

The toolkit aims to help those whose jobs and lives have been affected by the outbreak, and people looking to boost their skills while they are staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives.

It also offers employers, who are also facing unprecedented challenges, a positive way of supporting and developing furloughed employees who are interested in learning from home.

The courses in the new toolkit have been selected on the advice of experts and leading employers.

Our Group Chief Executive, Helen Milner, says:

“With 11.9 million people in the UK still without the essential digital skills for life and work, from adding an email attachment to two-step security verification, we’re delighted to be helping the nation learn and gain confidence through our free Learn My Way online courses and Make It Click directory.”
