Digital Inclusion Hub of the Month

Fixing the digital divide wouldn't be possible without all of our amazing and dedicated Digital Inclusion Hubs that are out on the ground delivering digital inclusion support. We're shining a light on the Hubs that are doing amazing work in their community to combat digital exclusion.

Hub of the Month: Benchill Community Centre!

Hub of the Month is a chance for us to celebrate the hard work of the National Digital Inclusion Network.

We’re celebrating Benchill Community Centre, a community organisation providing opportunities and support for people in Benchill, Manchester. They deliver sports, arts, music and computer programmes to support their members in their learning, development and employability.

Offering holistic support to their community

Benchill Community Centre were chosen as our Hub of the Month because of the huge amount of holistic support they provide to their community, including helping people through the Databank and their food banks.

They provide weekly IT support sessions, are a warm space, and support Windrush applications.

Alongside this, Benchill Community Centre support groups of refugees from Afghanistan staying in hotels nearby through the Databank, supporting them to get their level 2 ICDL (International Computer Driving License), and more to help them to advance their career and future prospects.

Reducing data poverty for deprived communities

Whilst supporting refugees, Benchill Community Centre has helped to get individuals on social tariffs and offered them free data.

“It was like we’d given them the world”.

And we’d like to thank you, Benchill Community Centre, for your dedication and hard work to help #FixTheDigitalDivide.
